I was lucky to receive Jen Carlton Bailly’s Quarter Circle templates a few months ago and they make cutting Quarter Circle blocks a breeze! I used them while cutting pieces for my Tide Line quilt and I know that Anne from Play Crafts used them for her Starflower Pillow. I’m so happy to have Jen on the blog hop today to give us some fabulous pointers on cutting and sewing Quarter Circle blocks. Don’t be scared of the Quarter Circle!

You can find Jen’s templates here, be quick they go FAST!

You can see Jen’s great Quarter Circle tips here!

Last, but by no means least, we have our finale piece by Miriam. We met through the Quilt Design a Day group on Facebook and I love seeing her designs. Miriam’s wonderful Colored Pavement Quilt is the one featured on the cover of the Tidal Lace look book. Her quilt design is amazing, she uses the Tidal Lace border print (in White Ombre) so well to create this lovely lightness in her design. I can’t wait to make one of these for myself!

Go see this gorgeous piece here!

Well, that wraps it up for the Tidal Lace Blog Hop Tour. It’s been so much fun and so inspirational to see all the wonderful talent on the hop. Tidal Lace will be landing in store in January. I can’t wait to see it out in the wild and I can’t wait to see what YOU make with Tidal Lace.

I love the design detail and thought that Alicia puts into her patterns for Swoon Sewing Patterns. When thinking about what projects I wanted for the Tidal Lace look book I knew that I wanted a big gorgeous beach bag and when I saw Alicia’s Sophia Beach Tote I emailed her right away. The Sophia is large and roomy while still keeping a fabulous shape, I adore this bag! She also made a Coraline wristlet and Coraline clutch which are versatile and adorable bags.

If you see me at Fall Quilt Market I’ll be walking around with one of these amazing bags. Come and say hi and have a closer look. Meanwhile read more about them here.

Stacey from Peppermint Pinwheels is a wonderful friend that I met through the East Bay Modern Quilt Guild. Stacey founded the East Bay group in 2010 (we used to meet in a local coffee shop) and I have long admired her amazing pieced creations. She has seen this fabric collection form from the very beginning and I’m so glad that Stacey was able to create her impressive Compass Floor Cushion with Tidal Lace, it is stunning!

Day Seven on the Tidal Lace Blog Hop Tour

Today are two fabulous projects by 2 of the loveliest people. Both Cal and Rebecca are amazingly creative and they teach the most amazing classes!

Cal Patch – Hodge Podge Farm

It was while I was at the creative retreat The Makerie that I met Cal Patch. I had taken Cal’s class on Creative Bug and it was fabulous to meet her in person (can’t wait to take another class with her!). Cal’s Beachcomber Dress is amazing and all my friends at the photo shoot that day had to try it on, we loved it so much. It is like this magic dress that looked great on all of us!

See this gorgeous dress here!

Rebecca Ringquist – Drop Cloth

If you ever get the chance to take an embroidery class with Rebecca do it! (You can find her on Creativebug to)

I first met her when she was teaching at A Verb For Keeping Warm, her embroidery class completely freed up my thinking about embroidery and I started having much more fun with it.  We then met again at The Makerie and it was lovely being able to spend more time chatting with her. Rebecca created this gorgeous piece Embellished Tide, she used the Tide Pool fabric as a base and then made amazing embellishments on top. Rebecca is an amazing artist, her embroidered drawings blow my mind!

It’s amazing, go see more here!

Ann is another talented quilt designer that I met through the East Bay Modern Quilt Guild and she has made the most wonderful Tidal Layers Pillow. What begins as a simple layout is elevated with amazing lines of quilting, then the pillow is finished with an incredible 2 inch flange around the edge.

Ann has written up a tutorial for this beauty. Have a look here!

I first met Madeleine through The Printed Bolt and their online competition REPEAT(ed). Madeleine has seen the designs for Tidal Lace go from being an idea through to being on fabric. So when I heard that she was starting her own sewing pattern company, Domestic Strata, I knew that we had to get her sewing patterns and Tidal Lace fabric together. Madeleine created the Eucalyptus Rail Fence Quilt (you have to see the hand quilting on this!), the Driftwood Pouf and the Bon Appetit Placemat with Tidal Lace and they are all wonderful!

WARNING! Cute Kitty pictures ahead here.

Pati is another friend that I met through the East Bay Modern Quilt Guild. I love this group so much! Pati is a part of the See How We Sew team and they asked me to guest post for them a few months back (see it here and here). When they said that they would love to create something with Tidal Lace I was over moon! Who wouldn’t want Pati Fried, Laura Nownes and Jennifer Rounds collaborating on a quilt made out of your fabric collection!?! Together they came up with the Day At The Shore Quilt which brings squeals of delight every time someone lays their eyes on it.

It is amazing go take a look here!

Day 1  –   Windham Fabrics / Kim Andersson – I Adore Pattern

Today, I’m going to share three different projects made with my Tidal Lace collection:  Tide Lines Quilt, Sea Star Pillows & Pin Cushions and Tide Pool Hair Decorations.

Project 1 – Tide Lines Quilt

When I first started thinking about my quilt design for Tidal Lace I knew that I wanted to make something that incorporated the whole collection. I also wanted a design that would fit in with the idea of the tide. So I created the Tide Lines quilt that is inspired by the lines that are made by the changing tides.

I’ve also been kind of obsessed with Quarter Circle blocks lately but hadn’t taken the leap to try those curved blocks. I don’t know what was holding me back because I’ve sewn curves in other sewing projects, just not quilty curves. Well, once I made the leap and had sewn a few test curves, I realized that it wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be!

I was lucky to receive Jen Carlton Bailly’s Quarter Circle templates and they made cutting a breeze! (Jen will be joining the Blog Hop on Tuesday Sept 23rd).

Luckily, the quilt came together quickly, as I had to get it finished and sent out to Terri for quilting ASAP! We had to have it done in time for the Tidal Lace look book shoot which was fast approaching!

Tide Line Quilt detail with quilting by Terri Carpenter

I LOVE how Terri quilted Tide Lines for me. Her quilting enhances those curves so well and adds to the overall sense of movement.

The Tide Lines Quilt pattern will be a free pattern when the collection Tidal Lace collection hits fabric stores in January.

Project 2 – Sea Star Pillows and Pin Cushions

The next project that I wanted to make were Sea Star (aka Star Fish) inspired pillows. So after some designing and testing templates I created a pattern for the pillows that can be pieced using different fabrics from the collection, or more simply, using whole pieces of fabric.

Sea Star Pillows

I really couldn’t stop making these! I ended up making 17 of them and they are sprinkled around in the photos in the look book. I then scaled the pattern down and made the cutest little Sea Star inspired pin cushion! The cushions and pin cushions will be a free pattern as well!

Oh how I love these!

Project 3 – Hair Decorations

After finishing the pillows and pin cushions I couldn’t seem to stop stuffing things. I made some adorable little hair clips from my Tide Pool pattern and added the tiniest amount of stuffing to plump them up.

So adorable!

I look forward to seeing what YOU make with Tidal Lace!
